Full-day turnover of Hong Kong stocks was HK$157.24 billion, with short-sales accounting for HK$26.28 billion, or 16.71% of the market's turnover. There were 674 short-selling stocks. TRACKER FUND (02800) and HSCEI ETF (02828) saw higher value of short sales, accounting for HK$2.33 billion and HK$2.05 billion, or 8.86% and 7.82% of the total short sales value respectively. The transactions represented 31.92% and 44.56% of respective stock's turnover.
TENCENT (00700) and MEITUAN-W (03690) registered HK$1.88 billion and HK$1.7 billion of short sales, accounting for 7.16% and 6.46% of the total short sales values respectively. The transactions represented 18.26% and 25.2% of respective stock's turnover.
TRACKER FUND closed up HK$0.39, or 2.23%, to HK$17.9. HSCEI ETF ended up HK$1.66, or 2.68%, to HK$63.54. TENCENT rose HK$9, or 2.65% to HK$348.4. MEITUAN-W jumped HK$4.1, or 3.68%, to HK$115.6.
